Swiggy CTO Dale Vaz resigns and so the company has appointed Madhusudhan Rao, presently the senior vice president of ConsumerTech and FinTech (Engg and Product), as the new CTO.
Swiggy is an online meal delivery business that has garnered significant popularity in India. It has transformed the food sector by providing individuals with the ease of ordering meals from the comfort of their homes. Swiggy has developed a new market for food delivery services, which has not only helped the firm but also the larger economy by offering new employment possibilities.
The speedy growth of food delivery services like Swiggy has resulted in a major shift in client behavior. Persons are becoming more reliant on these services, which has led to a decline in social connection and community involvement. This change poses fundamental ethical questions about the effect of technology on human relationships and social institutions.
Food and grocery delivery aggregator Swiggy’s chief technology officer Dale Vaz has left his post with effect from May, following over five years at the firm. He will be followed by Madhusudhan Rao.
“We confirm Dale Vaz has opted to walk on from Swiggy to pursue his entrepreneurial initiative. He will remain in his capacity through May 2023 & will be connected with Swiggy for a long term in an advisory role. We congratulate him genuinely for his numerous services to Swiggy,” stated a Swiggy spokeswoman.
The business has selected Madhusudhan Rao, presently the senior vice president of ConsumerTech and FinTech (Engg and Product), as the next CTO.
“Madhusudan Rao will take over as CTO. Madhu has been with Swiggy for over 4 years and has decades of IT leadership expertise with a proven track record of knowing what our consumers need“, the statement stated.
Vaz joined Swiggy after spending eleven years at Amazon. He joined the firm as head of engineering and data science and was appointed as CTO in 2020.
This has come days after Swiggy Instamart president Karthik Gurumurthy on Friday revealed that he is going on sabbatical. Karthik Gurumurthy in his LinkedIn post claimed that he planned to take a ‘sabbatical’. He would be followed by Swiggy co-founder Phani Kishan Addepalli.
In his message, Swiggy Instamart head Karthik Gurumurthy praised the rivals and added that he had taken this vacation to renew himself.
“I also want to applaud our competitors who have made q-commerce into a behemoth. We are currently constructing and at an embryonic period – There is an exciting trip ahead here. And just to put any suspicions to rest, I take this vacation to renew myself during this sabbatical we cherish our workers a lot and want to establish a sports club with a heart,” he added in his post.
