Manufacturer of popped chips TagZ Foods has secured a $2 million Pre-Series A round of investment headed by 9 Unicorns, Dexter Angels, Agility Ventures, Venture Catalysts, Klub, Indifi, and Rannvijay Singha.
In a Pre-Series A round led by 9 Unicorns, Dexter Angels, Agility Ventures, Venture Catalysts, Klub, Indifi, and Rannvijay Singha, $2 million was raised by TagZ Foods, a startup that produces popped chips and had previously received funding from Namita Thapar and Ashneer Grover during Shark Tank India’s first season.
Prior to this round of investment, TagZ Foods had acquired $1.2 million in early capital from a collection of angel investors in 2020. The Bengaluru-based startup intends to utilize the money to enhance operations, introduce new products, expand into new areas, and accelerate business development.
Additionally, the money will be used to expand the business’s marketing and brand recognition initiatives, boost its logistical system, and upgrade its technological platform.
In 2019, Anish Basu Roy and Sagar Bhalotia established TagZ Foods, a company that makes a range of center-filled cookies, gourmet dips from around the world, and popped potato chips with 50% less fat. The start-up makes potato chips with no cholesterol, trans fat, artificial colors, or preservatives, according to its claims.
According to Roy, the most recent round of investment will help the business achieve its objective of becoming the food D2C brand with the quickest growth rate and tripling in size this year.
Rannvijay Singha, a well-known actor and television personality, joined the snack brand as part of the most recent fundraising round. His endorsement is expected to significantly increase the company’s brand awareness and consumer engagement.
While targeting the top 30–40 million households in the nation with an omnichannel strategy that includes a network of 5000 retail stores and accessibility on more than 30 e-commerce platforms, including Swiggy Instamart, Zepto, and Blinkit among others, serving customers across 22 cities, TagZ has seen a 30x increase in volumes in the last 18 months.
