Google, an American search engine, has introduced the updated Android 13 Go edition for low-cost devices. The Go edition was released five years ago to assist manufacturers in producing inexpensive devices with specialized software. Only the necessary apps are present on the smartphone thanks to this improved version of Android. For instance, Google’s own apps, which can be rather heavy and include Gmail and Chrome, are designed to provide a better user experience.
“This will speed up and simplify the distribution of crucial updates without affecting storage available on the device,” the technology behemoth claims.
For the first time, Google is making “Material You” available on compatible handsets with the new version of Android 13. Google’s uniform design language, Material You, was unveiled for the first time last year. The phone uses this capability to take colors from the backdrop and adjust app icons and text.
Additionally, the update adds for Go-powered smartphones some of the essential Android 13 features like Notification Permissions, App Language Preferences, and more.
Along with its new version, Google is also distributing Google Discover. For people who enjoy reading news stories, this function might be very helpful. On the basis of users’ surfing histories, it would in particular curate a list of news stories and other information. Users do have the choice to turn off the setting, though, in order to receive personalized content.
Google and other smartphone OEMs have not yet made their rollout schedule announcements. In the upcoming months, Google is likely to provide more information.
At the same time, Google is boldly replacing the word “Ad” next to the advertising that appear in search results with the word “Sponsored.” Additionally, rather than being displayed next to the site URL, this label will appear in the line above the URL.
