When compared to the same period a year prior, FSN E-Commerce Ventures (Nykaa) had a profit increase of over 33%, from a profit of 3.4 crore to 4.5 crore in the first quarter ending June 30, 2022 (Q1 FY23). Its annualized consolidated revenue increased by 40% to $1,148 crore from $817 crore (YoY).
Nykaa’s EBITDA increased 71% year over year to 46 crore during the quarter, while the EBITDA margin increased to 4% from 3.3%. During the months of April and June, the gross profit margin increased by 380 bps YoY. Further, gross merchandise volume (GMV) reached 2,155.8 crore in the first quarter of FY23, up 47% from the same period in the prior year.
Falguni Nayar, a former investment banker, founded the business in 2012. The business includes two business verticals, Nykaa and Nykaa Fashion, and a diversified portfolio of beauty, personal care, and fashion products.
In November of last year, the company’s shares were listed on the BSE and NSE stock exchanges. On the final day of subscriptions, which ended on November 1, 2022, the initial public offering (IPO) of FSN E-Commerce Ventures Ltd, which operates the online marketplace for beauty and wellness products Nykaa, was subscribed 81.78 times, largely due to the intense interest from institutional investors. The value of Nykaa shares has decreased by more than 39% in 2022 (YTD), compared to a fall of roughly 46% since IPO.
