The Bengaluru police announced several traffic restrictions that will be in place tomorrow for a large Constitution awareness event being held in the city. Over 100,000 people are expected to attend the program organised by the Karnataka government at Palace Grounds in Central Bengaluru. As many VIPs and dignitaries will be present, extensive measures are being taken to ensure smooth traffic flow and security.
Vehicles coming to the venue from within the city will be diverted to take certain routes like Windsor Manor Junction, BDA upper ramp, Ramanamaharshi Road and PG Halli Bus Stand. They can park at the event ground and walk to the location following signboards. After the event, people can leave via Jayamahal Road and pass through Mekhri Circle. Cars arriving from Bellary Road side will go through Mekhri Circle underpass and park at Tripuravasini Palace ground before walking to the venue. On exit, they can use the Tripuravasini gate and Jayamahal Road to exit the city via Mekhri Circle.
The police have also suggested alternative routes for general commuters to avoid congestion near the programme site. People travelling to Palace Road should use the route from Mysore Bank Circle to Vasanthanagar underpass. Those going to MV Jayaram Road must take the path from Palace Road BDA Junction to Chakravarthi Layout via Vasanthanagar underpass till Old Udaya TV Junction. Bellary Road and Cunningham Road commuters have been asked to travel between LRDE Junction to Hebbala and Balekundri Circle to Lee Meridian underpass. Miller Road and Jayamahal Road users should opt for the route from Old Udaya TV Junction to LRDE Junction via Jayamahal Road and roads around Bengaluru Palace. For Yashawanthapura and Mekhri Circle Road, the diversion suggested is from Yashawanthapura to Indian Institute of Science and then to Mekhri Circle.
Parking has been completely prohibited on several major roads in the vicinity for the duration of the event. These include Palace Road, Jayamahal Road, Ramanamaharshi Road, Mount Carmel, MV Jayaram Road, CV Raman Road, Nandidurga Road, College Road, Vasanthanagar Road, Bellary Road and Tharalabalu Road. The restrictions are aimed at facilitating smooth movement of traffic in the Central Business District where lakhs of people will converge for the awareness program organised by the Congress-led state government. Commuters have been advised to plan their travel accordingly and cooperate with traffic authorities for the successful conduct of the large public event.
