This feature is being tested on both Android and iOS for users in countries with English as their primary language.
Twitter announced that it would put videos online in a vertical scrolling format like TikTok. Now microblogging sites are starting to introduce new layout features to mobile users.
“We’re testing out a revamped, more personalized Explore page to make it easier for you to unwind, find new interests and see what’s happening,” a Twitter spokesperson stated.
Users can connect to any video they want to watch on Twitter, creating a vertical scrolling feed similar to what most people visit for apps like Instagram and YouTube.
TikTok clones like Instagram Reels, Snapchat Spotlight, and YouTube Shorts have encouraged creators to use their platforms and become more famous. Apps like Netflix, Spotify, and Reddit are also experimenting with this format.
Twitter is also known to be developing a feature that will allow users to control who can refer to themselves in Tweets. According to application researcher and engineer Jane Manchun Wong, users are presented with two settings. They can allow people other than the Tweets they block to mention themselves in their Tweets, or only their followers to mention their names.
This year, Twitter continues to launch new products and features such as Spaces, Twitter Blue, and Tip Jar. This acceleration is anticipated to continue with Parag Agrawal handling over as CEO after co-founder Jack Dorsey resigned last week.
