A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Tata Motors, a car manufacturer, and Uber, a ride-hailing service, was signed on February 20. Under the terms of the agreement, Uber would add about 25,000 XPRES-T Tata Motor Electric Vehicles (EVs) to their premium category service.
According to a media announcement from Ube and Tata Motors will assist Uber with electrifying its services throughout Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Ahmedabad.
This is the biggest EV relationship an Indian automaker has ever had with a ridesharing company. As we aim to create a sustainable future, it will accelerate the switch to zero emissions on the Uber platform, according to Uber India and South Asia President Prabhjeet Singh.
From February onward, Tata Motors will start making a series of staged deliveries of the vehicles to Uber fleet partners.
The XPRES-T EV is the company’s first car under the “XPRES” brand, which Tata Motors debuted in July 2021 specifically for fleet clients. Both 315 km and 277 km of range are available for the new XPRES-T electric vehicle.
We are thrilled to work with Uber, India’s top ridesharing platform, as part of our commitment to expanding sustainable mobility across the nation. It will speed up the adoption of green and clean personal vehicle-sharing to provide clients our environmentally friendly EV travel experiences through Uber’s Premium Category service, according to Shailesh Chandra, MD of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility.
With a high energy density battery that has a capacity of 26 kWh and 25.5 kWh, respectively, the XPRES-T can be charged quickly from zero to eighty percent in just 59 minutes and 110 minutes, or it may be charged conventionally from any suitable 15 A plug point.
The electrification of its fleet is being embraced quickly by the ride-hailing sector.
Ola’s founder and CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal, has said that the company intends to introduce an EV fleet with about 10,000 vehicles.
BluSmart, a provider of electric car cab services, has been growing its fleet services since May 2022, when it raised about $25 million in debt and stock financing.
Tata Motors really agreed to deliver 10,000 XPRES-T electric vehicles to BluSmart Electric Mobility under a 2022 contract that the two parties had signed.
