A Passion for Music: Expat’s Extensive Vinyl and CD Collection Worth Over Dh1 Million

Ali Maarrawi Dabbah’s love for music is on full display upon entering his Jumeirah Beach Residence apartment in Dubai.

The walls are completely lined with shelves holding nearly 12,000 vinyl records, CDs, and an array of music memorabilia collected over decades.

According to the 46-year-old Spanish expatriate, independent appraisals have valued this immense collection at over Dh1 million

Dabbah’s journey with music began from a very young age, with memories of listening to his mother’s record collection while still in the womb.

He grew up in a musically-inclined family in Syria, with many relatives playing instruments.

However, it was truly beginning in 2014 after discovering the marketplace Discogs that Dabbah was able to exponentially expand his vinyl collection.
