According to Downdetector.com than 14,000 Instagram users experienced issues along, with 7,000 Facebook users, 2,700 WhatsApp users, and 470 Threads users. This is the time Instagram has had an outage in the month but Meta Platforms has not provided any updates or statements regarding the situation.
On Monday, Downdetector.com confirmed that Meta Platforms’ popular social media apps, namely Instagram and Facebook, along with messaging app WhatsApp, and the Twitter-rival Threads, experienced a brief outage. The issue was resolved, and all services were back up and running, providing relief to the thousands of affected users.
During the peak of the outage, which lasted for over an hour, a significant number of users encountered difficulties. Specifically, more than 14,000 users reported problems accessing Instagram, while approximately 7,000 and 2,700 users faced similar issues with Facebook and WhatsApp, respectively. Even Meta’s latest offering, Threads, was not spared from the outage, as around 470 users reported trouble accessing the app.
Downdetector, the service that tracks outages, relies on data from various sources, including user-submitted error reports, to monitor the situation. While the reported numbers suggest a significant impact on users, it’s possible that the outage could have affected even more people.
Interestingly, this is the third time Instagram has suffered an outage within the span of just a month. The first incident occurred on July 11, affecting all Meta platforms, including Facebook and WhatsApp. Then, on July 20, Instagram experienced a second outage, impacting users worldwide. Despite these recurrent disruptions, the company has yet to release an official statement addressing the situation.
