First brought into notice in July, WhatsApp’s feature of joinable calls provided users the access to answer a group call even after the call had started, instead of other participants joining the group call exactly when it was made.

Announcing the up-to-date feature, Whatsapp shared that now group calls are contextual to users’ group chat and they can join them effortlessly right from the chat tab. The platform said that with group calling emerging as a popular way to connect with various people at once, the integrating feature of joinable calls delivers a new way for WhatsApp users to connect with their family as well as friends.

With the joinable call feature of WhatsApp, users can make a call in the group and join it directly from the group chat. It should also be noted that only people who are participants of the group can join the call, and the group call will be shown in the chat list which makes it easy for users to see which groups are having ongoing calls right after opening the WhatsApp.

WhatsApp is observed to be active in launching new features and updating the existing ones. The platform also rolled out end-to-end encrypted backups feature which opens choice for its users to encrypt their chat history backup in Google Drive or iCloud for Android as well as iOS users respectively. This feature was also announced first in July 2021, together with other upcoming features.

The Facebook-owned platform was also in talks around mid-September 2021, to be working on an upcoming feature which will allow users to transcribe voice notes sent to them. With the help of this forthcoming feature, WhatsApp users will be given access to read what has been addressed in the voice message without the need of going through the entire audio.

Established in January 2009, WhatsApp Messenger is an instant messaging application acquired by social media giant Facebook in 2014. The platform delivers a user-compatible interface with features including text as well as voice messaging, video and voice calls, media, documents and live location sharing over the internet, and more. WhatsApp currently serves more than 2 billion users from around the globe.
