The American social networking platform, Instagram is in the spotlight for working on its upcoming feature of ‘Favorites’ which is expected to organize and categorize its users’ feed.

Although the feature is still in its testing phase, it is reported that when it is officially brought to the users, it will doubtlessly help them to categorize the posts in their feed by pinning the ‘favorite’ accounts on top. It will automatically direct the feed to prioritize posts based on the ones the user has pinned ‘favorite’.
A mobile developer, Alessandro Paluzzi, was the first to post about the forthcoming feature on Twitter. He conveyed that the feature allows you to categorize your preferred Instagram accounts as “priorities” so that their posts will be delivered “higher” in your feed.

The platform is putting core emphasis on better user experience by handing them more control over their feed. People using Instagram generally follow numerous people including friends, family members, celebrities, brands and other influencers. However, they don’t necessarily scroll through every post from these accounts in their feed. With the overburdening feed, users often miss the relevant posts which they are truly interested in. However, with the new initiative of ‘favorites’, the platform aims at augmenting the users’ experience in the most organized and efficient way.
Unlike the oncoming feature, which Instagram is testing under the wraps, its users are currently experiencing their posts getting ranked by most recent and shared ones from the accounts they follow. Often its users get sponsored and promoted posts similar to the ones they might have liked or shared. This algorithm works on receiving ‘signal’ from the users when they like or share posts.
Along with other features, Instagram also allows its users to control who can see their story by categorizing a separate list under the head “Close Friends”.
Released back in October, 2010, Instagram is currently one of the most used social networking services created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger. The platform was acquired by Facebook Incorporation in the year 2012 at a valuation worth $1 billion. It is operated in Android, iOS, Microsoft Windows, etc. Its features include as follows:
●	Uploading pictures and short videos, adding location and tagging the posts.
●	Following people’s feed including friends, family members, celebrities, brands, and other influencers.
●	Connecting Instagram accounts to other social media sites in order to upload pictures and videos on those sites.
●	The platform allows its users to set their account to private where only their followers can watch their activities over the site.
●	It has an explore page which lets you dive into various contents that you like
●	IGTV feature of the instagram lets its general users to upload maximum of 10-minute video
●	One of the most trending features of the platform, Reels, allows its users to make short videos which can be edited with filters and other small features inside the tool.
Apart from these features, Instagram offers other services including ‘archive’ which enables the users to store their posts in a private section. It offers other relevant services like advertising, establishing a business account, etc. Recent updates of the platform include “Instagram Live Rooms” which lets maximum 4 users join live at once. It was brought out officially on March 1, 2021. With the plans of its forthcoming feature of ‘Favourite’, Instagram is all set to grant its users a seamless experience. In this digital social space, Instagram is paving its way towards setting milestones in the social media industry.
