According to the most recent data from top business services provider Quess, the staffing demand increases by 23% from April to August compared to the same period last year as businesses in a variety of sectors, including banking and financial services, retail, and telecom, among others, intensified their hiring campaigns to meet the rise in consumer demand during the upcoming holiday season.

According to the statistics, 32,000 positions were advertised during this time in the BFSI, retail, and telecom industries.

This season, there has been a rise in demand for positions such as production trainee, branch connection executive, collection officer, business development executive, broadband sales executive, sales executive, warehouse associate, and customer relationship officer.

Despite inflation and profitability pressures, segments such as manufacturing, BFSI, and retail have reflected remarkable growth,” said Lohit Bhatia, President- Workforce Management, Quess.

As many as 32,000 jobs were posted in this period, and we expect this trend to magnify each month by at least 5,000 as we inch closer to peak festivities, especially across industries impacted by direct consumers such as e-commerce, logistics and automobiles,” he added.

When compared to April to August of next year, the need for specialists in the manufacturing and industrial sector would increase by 245%. In order to fulfil the anticipated consumer demand resulting from the Diwali celebrations, the automotive manufacturing industry is experiencing an increase in hiring, particularly in the context of Electric Vehicle manufacturing.

Prior to the holidays, the demand for labour increased by 27% in the BFSI sector and by 14% in the telecom sector.

With the introduction of 5G, the telecom industry has undergone extensive digitalization initiatives that have significantly increased job growth. To meet the demands of the expanding telecom sector, businesses are concentrating on releasing future-proof fibre solutions and goods.

The concept of gig workers is also gaining ground in the retail sector, which reported a 9% increase in personnel demand.

According to projections, the e-commerce and logistics sector would employ up to 3 lakh people, making it one of the largest employers. With a focus on both the gig and staffing models and a special emphasis on gig-based employment for delivery services, this encompasses responsibilities from warehouse and delivery operations.

According to the statistics, metro cities have had the highest demand for new and developing professions, with a comparable trend to a level from a year ago. Ahead of the holiday peak, cities like Noida, Pune, Chennai, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad reported strong demand for labour. However, the statistics also indicated that there are good employment opportunities in places like Vijayawada, Ranchi, Coimbatore, Jamshedpur, and Coimbatore.
