Ola, India’s leading ridesharing platform, on October 7, 2021, announced its brand new launch of vehicle buying business Ola Cars which is expected to offer its fresh vehicle buying and ownership experience to customers.

Ola claims that the company’s all-new platform Ola Cars will deliver effortless experience, promising unparalleled customer-reach as well as better understanding customers’ needs. The company will be also introducing new vehicles in future in its platform from Ola Electric and other brands. It is anticipated that beginning its journey as the vehicle buying business across 30 cities, Ola Cars will further augment its operations across 100 cities by 2022. 

With its entry in the vehicle purchasing segment, Ola is expected to give neck-and-neck competition to other players in the field including CarDekho, Cars24, Spinny, Droom, CarTrade, Carwale, etc.

Potential customers look for more seamless and digital experience, especially amid the pandemic in the country. He added that Ola Cars will be delivering a fresh experience regarding buying, selling and ownership for new as well as owned vehicles.

As an additional update, Ola also declared the naming of Arun Sirdeshmukh as CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of Ola Cars. Sirdeshmukh holds more than 30 years of experience in industries including retail, FMCG, consumer internet, fashion, etc., along with work experience in well-known establishments like Reliance Trends, IBM Global Services and e-commerce giant Amazon India. He is expected to deliver technology-based services and operate the sales and distribution, marketing strategies, customer support and service for the newly launched business. 

On the up-to-date launch of Ola Cars, Sirdeshmukh shared that Ola is recreating and introducing a customer-friendly concept of not just buying and selling but also other vehicle-related services including vehicle finance, insurance and maintenance including an entire digital experience for customers. He also informed about the company’s future plans of spurring its operations in upcoming months across India as well as abroad and will also introduce new verticals in the business including pre-owned 2-wheelers and other new vehicles from different vehicle brands. 

Ola Cars will contribute in constructing the core pillar of Ola’s vision of ‘new mobility’. Its New Mobility, which is built on 3 pillars- new mobility services, new energy vehicles and new auto retail, aims at designing the company as the ‘future of mobility’. In order to develop next generation location technology for delivering more convenient mobility experiences to customers, Ola announced the acquisition of geospatial startup GeoSpoc on October 5, 2021.
