India’s leading ridesharing establishment, Ola disclosed its plans to hire over 10,000 people for its newly-established platform Ola Cars. The startup is reportedly eyeing a leadership position in the Indian market with GMV (Gross Merchandise Value) valued at $2 billion for its newly launched vehicle buying business.

Ola Cars has reported the fastest growth in the vehicle buying segment. The platform sold about 5,000 pre-owned cars in its initial stages of operation.

Ola announced its new launch of a vehicle purchasing platform Ola Cars on October 7, 2021. The company claimed that its new business would successfully deliver hassle-free experience to the consumers, promising unmatchable customer-reach. 

Ola Cars lets customers buy new as well as pre-owned vehicles via Ola App. The app offers its users a range of vehicle-based services comprising vehicle purchase, insurance, maintenance, etc. The platform additionally enables the option of reselling the vehicles to Ola-owned Ola Cars. The vehicle buying business is emerging as a ‘one-stop’ platform for people who are looking for simple and effortless cars purchasing and selling experience. 

Ola Cars has also come up with stand-out services including test drives at potential customer’s doorstep, 7 days ‘no-questions-asked’ return of vehicles bought from the platform, etc.

Ola Cars started selling owned vehicles in cities in India including Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, etc. The establishment has further chalked out plans to expand its sales operation in Chandigarh, Kolkata, Jaipur and Indore. 

It is reported that Ola Cars will operate in 30 cities for the next two months. The platform will further extend its operations in 100 cities by 2022. 

Arun Sirdeshmukh, CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of Ola Cars said that with the establishment of Ola Cars, the company is reimagining the car purchasing, ownership as well as resale experience for customers. He stated that the newly-established business is witnessing remarkable demand with the sale of around 5,000 cars sold in its first full month of operating in the vehicle purchasing and reselling segment. Mentioning the recent development, he confirmed that the company is hiring additional 10,000 people across functional areas comprising sales as well as service centers.

Ola’s service centers across India aim to deliver a seamless experience to customers via technology-driven advancements including AI, telematics and vision-based systems. 

Disclosing its long term plans, Ola has earlier stated the vehicle buying platform will be inclusive of pre-owned two-wheelers and vehicles from other automotive brands as well. The company is expected to include vehicles from its Ola Electric division since the country is driving towards electric vehicles unprecedentedly.
